Rhoda Titilopemi Inioluwa PATRICK

Rhoda Titilopemi Inioluwa PATRICK is a visiting postdoctoral researcher from the Durban University of Technology (DUT). Her ongoing DUT postdoctoral project entails the use of reflective writing as a creative methodology to foster participatory communication and provide a voice against gender-based violence (GBV) in South Africa. Her McMaster academic collaboration is on the EFECT project which is centred on tackling the cultural practices of oppression and GBV, incorporating information and communication technology and associated participatory methods like creating social media GIFs and memes as modes of communication on these subject matters. She is looking to advocate the adaptation of such media as viable creative options for transformative pedagogy on addressing GBV and societal plagues in South Africa.
Her interests are in media and cultural studies with emphasis on representations, ethnomusicology, and identity/African/diasporic studies as well as communication in education, gender justice, participatory methodologies, and curriculum development.
