Kai Hayden

About:

Kai’s multifaceted experiences and commitment to justice, equity, and community engagement allows her to make meaningful contributions in many of her academic and advocacy endeavours. Her passion for making a positive difference in the lives of marginalized communities is at the forefront of both her academic and extracurricular pursuits.

Kai is a dedicated fourth-year student pursuing a degree in Justice, Political Philosophy, and Law at McMaster University. With a diverse skill set, her areas of expertise encompass digital design, social media management, and financial proficiency. During her time at McMaster, Kai has actively participated in several Black-based and cultural clubs, including Law Aspiring Black Students, Black Formal, Black Student Association, and McMaster’s Association for Caribbean and West Indies Students.

She has demonstrated her commitment to community involvement through extensive volunteering experiences, both within and beyond the McMaster community, and maintains strong connections with the Black Student Success Center (BSSC). She has also contributed to mentorship programs, including the Black Student Mentorship program and her program’s internal mentorship initiative in JPPL.

Kai is a valuable member of the undergraduate research community, actively involved in producing the new CheckIn podcast. Furthermore, she collaborates with Dr. Ingrid Waldron and Empowerment Squared Hamilton as a Youth Engagement Leader, contributing to a groundbreaking study focused on improving mental health access for Black youth in Hamilton.
